Esther B. Hines was born in Haywood, Tennessee on June 27, 1952, to Lester Hines, and Viola Wilkes. Esther was the first of 11 children.
Esther grew up in Brownsville, Tennessee where she attended school. She was raised in the church from an early age and later moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she attended Greater Friendship Baptist Church and was a member of the choir.
Esther worked for Cleveland public schools as a lunch aide for many years, then moved up to a custodian position where she retired. She loved going places, just getting on the bus and going. She loved spending time with her grandkids and working in her yard. She enjoyed life. Next line Esther was an incredible mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by both parents, Lester Hines, and Viola Wilkes; son, Michael Hines; sisters, Gloria Wilkes, Clara Robinson, and Latonya Wilkes; brother, James Wilkes, Curious Hines and niece, Latoya Payton.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Daniel Hines, and Matthew Hines; one daughter, Shawn; her sister Sue, and brothers, William, Gilliand, Lester, Silvester, and Perry, Mary, Arnette, Darlene, Robert, Lynn, and Lester Jr.; seven grandchildren, Nadia, Tayjua, Tyshawn, Trevin, Tashiona, and Travon; one great-granddaughter, Akina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
