Ernestine Poe of Shaker Heights, Ohio, was born on January 26, 1950 to the late Lawrence and Carrie (Duncan) Poe. She was the youngest of two children and was affectionately called "Ernie" by family and friends.
Ernestine confessed her love for Christ at an early age at East Mount Zion Baptist Church. She attended Cleveland Public Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Glenville High School. After high school, she attended Ohio State University. Ernestine was employed by Bailey Controls and various childcare centers and enjoyed working with youth but particularly enjoyed caring for babies. Over the years, she served as a primary caregiver for her mother until her death in 2015, at age 99.
Ernestine enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling the world, perusing different restaurants, and attending various cultural events. She was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She will be greatly missed, and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fond memories. She departed this life on March 29, 2021.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Carrie Poe. Ernestine leaves to cherish her precious memories, her sister and brother-in-law, Henry and Verdell (Poe) Foster; niece, Kimme Foster; special friend, Moses Hall, and a host of family and treasured friends.
