ERNESTINE Campbell-FLAGG was born on March 24, 1937, in Tuskegee, AL to David Lee and Katie Lee Campbell. To this union, ten (10) children were born. She was preceded in death by her father, David Sr. and two brothers, Lafayette Sr. and David Jr. Ernestine attended East Technical High School and later attended Cuyahoga Community College. She moved to Cleveland, OH in 1942. At an early age, she was baptized at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Ernestine was married to George Flagg on Dec 24, 1960, and four children were born to this union. She had three other children before her marriage to George. Later in life, she met her soul mate, Tommy Dorsey, who preceded her in death on August 22, 2009. Her first job was at her aunt's restaurant, Eula's Open Kitchen. She was later employed at the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, Cuyahoga County Jobs and Family Services, and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Ernestine was an avid reader and enjoyed working in the library reading to the children at Anton Grdina Elementary School. She also enjoyed history. Ernestine loved helping friends and family members. Even though she had seven children to care for, she was always gracious enough to open her doors to all that needed a place to stay. She was an exceptional cook. Everyone loved her peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, fried chicken, and fried corn. She loved collecting pictures. She kept all of her children's report cards from grade school to completion. She had the most beautiful penmanship and enjoyed doing doodle art, coloring, and floral arrangements. Most of all, she loved celebrating her birthday with her children. Now her earthly strife is over, no more sorrows, no more cares. Ernestine transitioned to her eternal home on August 12th at Solon Pointe Nursing Home. Her life and legacy will be forever cherished by her siblings: Maurice, Jeraldine, Delores, James (Carol), Lawrence (Cassandra), Eugene (Naura), and Denice (Raeford). Her children: Anthony (Veronica), Adrienne (Anthony), Frederick, Keith (Sherry), Kimberly, Jeffrey, and Carolyn (Deon); 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
