Annie Elizabeth was born to David and Alice (Allie) Thompson on October 24, 1930, in Faison, North Carolina. Her sister Pollyanna was born about a year earlier.
Elizabeth received her education in North Carolina. Upon arriving in Cleveland, Ohio in the early 50s she met and married Eugene Martin on November 1, 1954. Four children were born from this union: Karen, Vivian, Cynthia, and Rance. During her 64 years at East Mount Zion, she was a Hannah Samaritan- Minnie Manuel Star in the East Circle member and a volunteer with Lifeline's Food and Clothing Ministries. On November 3, 2012, she was recognized as one of the Women of Distinction at East Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Elizabeth was a dedicated wife and mother. She did work before her marriage in a hotel. Also, much later in life, she completed a patient care assistant course and worked at Manor Care. Elizabeth's favorite scripture is Proverbs3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths." Elizabeth left her earthly home to go to her heavenly home on October 29, 2023.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, David Thompson; husband, Eugene Martin; sister Pollyanna Rosemond; mother, Alice (Allie) Thompson, and her daughter, Karen Martin.
Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Vivian, and Cynthia; one son, Rance; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, and her loving East Mount Zion family.
