Edward Rogers Jr. was born on November 26, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Edward and Mary Rogers. Edward was the oldest of two children.
Sadly, his mother passed away when he and his sister were young children. They were loving raised by their maternal grandmother Bertha "Nana" Parker. He grew up on Central Avenue and attended Cleveland public schools. After high school Edward began working for Kronheim's Furniture Store, where he learned upholstery.
Edward found love when he met his future wife, Eveline Winston, at a candy store. How sweet is that! They were married and were blessed with a son and daughter, Ronald and Margret. Sadness again be felled Edward when his Eveline died suddenly. Edward did find love a second time around and married Gennie Franklin. They were blessed with a son and daughter, Tonita "Toni" and Larry. Gennie had a daughter, Gloria, from a previous marriage. Tragedy struck once again when Gennie passed away in 2006. They were married for 41 years.
Edward worked for Joy Manufacturing Company in Solon, Ohio as a machinist for 22 years until he retired.
Two words to best described Edward, "Home-body" and "Workaholic". He loved his family and providing for them. He loved music, baseball, and watching soap operas. He was a good baseball player and an avid fan. If a game was on television, he was watching it. His favorite genre of music was big band and R&B. His two favorites were Lionel Hampton and Aretha Franklin. Edward said that he had a good life.
