Edward Jones, Jr. was born November 3, 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky to Edward Jones and Alice Jones (nee DeHaven). Though he was an only child, he had a countless number of relatives that loved him, and that he remained close with throughout his lifetime. Edward graduated from Central High School in Louisville, KY, and attended Tuskegee Institute, majoring in tailoring. Edward joined the United States Army and served as a Technician to purify the water while serving during the Korean War in 1952. After leaving the army, Edward married Gwendolyn Roberson June 28, 1953. Their 66-year union produced three lovely daughters: Renee, Toni, and Tina. Edward had a strong sense of justice, and often went out of his way to help those in need. Edward had a tremendous work-ethic. He was employed with Lincoln Electric Company for over 20 years, while simultaneously owning and operating several businesses to satisfy his entrepreneurial spirit. Edward was the Family Patriarch, and always helped his family members in countless ways throughout his lifetime. Edward had a bold and bodacious personality. He had a reputation for always standing up for the "little guy", the cast-a-ways, and those that many others would have given up on. He was remarkably influential - able to negotiate with anyone, regardless of their background or status. He was unashamedly proud but managed to accept people exactly as they were. More than anything, Edward was a man of FAITH! This was expressed in a very tangible way, when he accepted Christ as his savior at 70 years of age. He dedicated his life to his wife, children, relatives, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After a full life, Edward Jones Jr. was taken home to our Lord on May 6, 2019. Edward is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Jones, daughters Renee, Toni, and Tina, 3 sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren (7 of which he and his wife raised), 13 great-grandchildren, and countless relatives and friends that loved him dearly, admired him, and respected him. Edward will be missed, but the impact he made and legacy he left will live on through those who were fortunate enough to know him!
