Earlene Mason of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, was born on October 8, 1935, to the late lke Brooks, and Cora McClendon Brooks, of Alexander City, Alabama. She was the eighth of eleven children.
Earlene attended Laurel High School where she was the "Head Majorette". She came to Cleveland as a young woman and was employed by St. John's Hospital. She was a loving mother to her only child, Sandra J. Walker.
Later, Earlene chose a job closer to home at Mt. Sinai Hospital as a Nurses' Assistant and then a CSR for surgery where she retired after 32 years of loyal service. Earlene was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was affectionately known as "Gam" by family and friends. She enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of her flowers and line dancing.
She worked her puzzles daily and loved keeping up with the current events and discussing them with Dianne Parker. They would talk regularly. She was also known for her delectable Sunday meals especially her greens, yams and cornbread.
She will be greatly missed, and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and fond memories. She was so proud to be the great-great grandmother of Rilye N. Gardner.
Earlene leaves to cherish her memories a beloved daughter Sandra J. Walker, (Wiley), grandmother to Samaiyah A. Benjamin and Hakim Benjamin, great - grandmother to Dominique Hamilton, Hakim Benjamin Jr., Kamren Bell and Jayden Tucker, her sister Frankie Higgins of Alexander City, Alabama her brother Johnny M. Brooks of Alexander City, Alabama, a host of nieces, nephews and her special daughters, Michelle Brooks, Tara Roberson, Valerie Hamilton and Johnetta Smith.
