Durward Patton Griffey

DURWARD PATTON GRIFFEY, aged 89; Passed away April 2, 2009. He was united in marriage to Artha B. Lewis, of Columbus, GA. for 59 years. He was a devoted father to Patricia Griffey Wilson, Rosemary Griffey Butler of Austin, TX. and Frances Griffey Young. Durward was a loving grandfather to Bruce and Brian Wilson, John Butler and William Griffey and great grandfather of Jaiden and Devynn. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews who mourn his passing. Durward retired a Major from the U.S. Army in 1961, after a 20 year career, in which he received numerous awards and metals for his long and faithful service. After his military retirement, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Svc for 20 years. Services will be Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Watson's funeral Home, 10913 Superior Avenue. Family will receive friends at 10:30am. Funeral Service begin at 11:00am. Interment in Lake View Cemetery.
