Dorothy Mae Greer

Dorothy Mae Greer was born to the late Clarence and Dollie Mae Higgins on June 30, 1927 in Macon Georgia. Dorothy was the third child born of seven children, six whom preceded her in death: Bessie Lee, Clarence Sr., Christine, Robert, Dollie Mae, and Baby Brother. Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Jealouscious (James) Greer on August 15, 1948. The late and great Brenda Sue Greer was their only child. At an early age she accepted Christ in her life, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She currently attended New Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Dorothy migrated to Cleveland from Macon, Georgia in the early 40's. Dorothy, also known as "Mae Baby" was one of the first family members to migrate to Cleveland, Ohio, during the Great Migration. She worked at Swift Cleaners, and other jobs which included working in various clothing factories. Dorothy retired from Ferry Cap and Screw Company. Dorothy lived her life to the fullest. She was involved in several social clubs and was a member of Tons of Fun. Dorothy loved to travel, and Las Vegas, Nevada was her favorite city to visit. Dorothy loved kids as well, and was the foster mother to many children. She served as grand matriarch for many years, and will be greatly missed by her family. Dorothy was young at heart and mentored many young friends. Through the years, Dorothy collected array elephant sculptures. Dorothy Mae Greer died on Monday, December 2, 2013 at University Hospital, Beachwood, Ohio. Conthatteas, Martha, Bernice, Lillian, Amelia, Jean, Ralph, Robert Lee, Michael preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory grandson, Daniel Hart. Her sister-in-law, Lula Mae. Her nieces: Evelyn, Stina, Darlene, Dorothy, Vanessa, and Regina (Detroit). Her nephews: Clarence (Tennessee), Geronimo, James, Moses, Demetrius, Anthony (Cincinnati), William Jr., Rubin, Tyrone, Kevin, Terrence, Duane, special nephew, Warren Ronney, and a host of great nieces and nephews, family, friends, and special friend Diane Brown. Public viewing all day Friday until 7:00 PM at Watson's Funeral Home, 10913 Superior Ave. HOME GOING SERVICES BEGIN AT 12:30 PM on SATURDAY, DEC. 7TH at Watson's Funeral Home. Interment in Cleveland Memorial Gardens.
