Dorothy Gibson was born in Cleveland, Ohio January 18, 1930 to the late William and Mary Echols, sister of one sibling, William Jr. All of whom preceded her in death. Dorothy attended the Cleveland Public School System and graduated from John Hay High School. In 1953, she met and married Eugene Gibson, to that union one child was born. After 45 years of marriage Eugene Gibson preceded her in death. Dorothy dedicated life to Christ at a young age. In her adult life she was a member of Eagle Wing Missionary Baptist Church under the late Henry o. Maxwell. She later went on to become a co founder of New beginning missionary Baptist Church (Springfield) under E.J. Goodman; where she served as President of the Mother's Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board, Treasurer of Prayer Warriors for 15 years. She worked for the City of Cleveland as a payroll clerk for 15 years, she went on to become an independent daycare provider for 20 years, then moved on to private home health until she retired. Dorothy's greatest joy was to care for others. Dorothy enjoyed her church and church family. She was a mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and her doors were always open. She entered into her eternal rest Thursday, April 28, 2011 very peacefully, she leaves cherished memories to one daughter, Kimmerly (Johnnie); five grandchildren, Tracie (Andre), Brandon Eugene, Kristen, Johnnie and Dondre; four great grandchildren, Monique, Devonte, Dwayne and Armani; one great-great grandchild, Rashaad; two nephews, William and Leshawn as well as other relatives and friends. Dorothy also leaves cherished memories to her friend Flora Harris, Pat McPherson, and Rev. and Sister Goodman; and a very special and caring care giver Lameka Bryant. SERVICES BEGIN AT 10:00 AM ON TUESDAY, MAY 3 at Watson's Funeral Home, 10913 Superior Avenue.
