Dorothy K. Flowers was born on September 11, 1941, in Dothan, Alabama to the late James, and Ruby Mae (Williams) Harvey. She was one of nine children, and accepted Christ at an early age.
Her parents with their three children at the time moved to East Chicago, Indiana, where Dorothy graduated from Roosevelt High School in which she was very active. Dorothy loved her family and always followed the lead of her older brothers, Jim, and Murray, who she adored.
As a young lady, Dorothy married Leroy Kelley, from their union came daughter, Trinida Rhea Kelley. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1964. After divorcing Leroy, Dorothy became a single parent, and worked as a Bank Teller with Cleveland Trust/Ameritrust Bank for many years.
Dorothy's world changed when she met and married Mr. Frazier Flowers ("the love of her life") on December 29, 1974, and acquired two more daughters, Sharon Flowers, and Debra Flowers, whom she loved dearly. As a blended family, they joined Second Lakeview Baptist Church of Cleveland, Ohio. Married for 39 years, Dorothy and Frazier "Pops", traveled and enjoyed life, yearly attending her family reunions, loving on all her cousins, and new addition day in East Chicago, Indiana to see all of her family and childhood friends.
Dorothy loved to write, she became a fiction author of three books; Taut Strings of Calico (2006), Every Closed Eye (2008), and Everybody Ain't Dead (2008). Dorothy was a Licensed Insurance Agent for many years, and Entrepreneur of Common Cents Thrift Store, Serving the Glenville neighborhood.
She was a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that loved to dance. she acquired some great friends in Cleveland.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frazier Flowers (2013); brothers, Steve Harvey (2019), Murray Harvey (2020), and Jim Harvey (2020).
Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Trinida Bozeman (Johnny "JB"), Debra Anderson, and Sharon Flowers; sisters, Barbara Love of Euclid, OH, and Betty Harvey of Bedford Hts, OH; sister-in-law, Delores Harvey of Jackson Township, NJ; brothers, Dennis Harvey (Sally) of East Chicago, IN, Ralph Harvey, and Kenny Harvey both of Euclid, OH; granddaughter, Madolyn Underwood (Macheal), Rachel Curry (Gregory), and Erica Anderson; grandson, Aaron Anderson; great-grandsons, Devyn, Jeremy, Que, James Michael; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
