Dorcas M. Hall

Dorcas Marie Hall, lovingly referred to as "Dottie", was born to Mamie and Oscar Hill on February 10, 1932 in Muncie, Indiana. Dottie was the youngest of the siblings. It's probably safe to say she was the "cool little sister". Dottie was educated in the Muncie Public School System, and graduated from Muncie Central High School.

As a young adult, Dottie followed in her sister's (Elizabeth and Ophelia) footsteps and relocated from Muncie, Indiana to Cleveland, Ohio. She would later marry Isaiah (Ike) Hall (deceased, 2008), and on March 13, 1961 they would add a loving son, Derek Andre Hall to their union. Derek is their only child, and from Derek, Dottie and Ike would gain their only grandson, Derek Andre Hall, Jr. "Little Derek" on March 27, 1984.

Some people don't know that Dottie's first job was at a funeral parlor in Muncie. Her first job in Cleveland was at Swiss Cleaners. She later worked at McDonald's (for a short period) and then at Antenna Specialists. Dottie's jobs became more and more interesting, as proven by her next position as a Torpedo Assembler at Gould's, in the early 70's! Dottie would later be promoted to an Inspector within the company. She grew in tenure, as the company changed its name to Westinghouse. There she would retire in 1995.

Those closest to Dottie know that she was hardly all work! Dottie loved to have fun and party, too! This was evident by the many house parties she hosted, which put her house on the map as one of the hippest houses on the block. Dottie loved music and she was known for having the most popular and latest tunes. It's no wonder that her son, Derek, would follow in her footsteps and become a Disc Jockey (deejay), even to this day!

In addition to hosting house parties, Dottie loved attending cabarets, family reunions and dining out regularly, with Ike and Derek on Ike's days off. We would be remiss not to mention Dottie's love for travel, in particularly with her sister's, and to her favorite destination of Las Vegas! Dottie hardly missed a family affair if she could help it.

Some of Dottie's other favorite activities would include shop- ping for clothes and shoes. She was known to be super stylish! Additionally, Dottie was a huge sports fan and loved to cheer on the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. On a more subdued level, she would become engrossed in watching her favorite soap operas. We really could go on and on about our beloved Dottie, but she was just too much to capture on paper, so we will forever hold her affectionately in our memories.

"Dottie was preceded in death by five sisters, and five brothers, James, Gladys, Hope, Oscar, Jr., Richard, Jeremiah, Carrie, Elizabeth, John and Ophelia.
Her brother Amos Hill is left to cherish the memories of all of his sisters and brothers.
Derek's love for his mom, Dottie, is surely an example for many to follow and his love sup- ported God's highest commandment. Derek tenderly cared for his mom after his father's death and he stood true to his promise made to his dad that he would always personally care for his mom, which he did, during sick- ness and health.

Dottie also has a host of family members and friends who will not soon forget her and who will always be reminded in thoughts and pictures of her beautiful nature and infectious smile. Keep the music playing for us, Dottie, we will see you again at family reunion of all times, in Heaven.
