David Stephen Brooks, the second child and son born to the late Clarence and Louise Brooks and was born on July 6, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. David was baptized at an early age and was educated in the parochial school system. After high school, David began his career of 37 years with AT&T Telephone Company (formerly Ohio Bell) and retired in the year 2006.
In the year 1966 David met the love of his life Charlotte Morrison (Brooks). After two years of courtship they married April 27, 1968. They had been inseparable ever since. The union of David and Charlotte was one to witness and aspire to. There love was evident and on full display for all to see. They took care of each other and it was rare to see one without the other. They were the perfect example of a union blessed by God. David and Charlotte were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Tonya and Shonda Brooks. They shared an exceptionally close bond. It was a common occurrence for the four of them to have pop up family dates.
Tonya and Shonda were both daddy's girls. David had four granddaughters, Shai, Kayla, Kori, and Willo and two great grandsons, Deandre Jr. and Zelle Jr.
David was always there for his immediate and extended family. Specifically, David was truly a mentor to so many people that he met in his life. He was honest and never steered you wrong.
David was a connoisseur of Jazz Music, he loved Sci-Fi, and specifically ""Star-Trek"". He studied Tai chi and was on active member of the Spirit of Ohio Lodge #52, he served as the Loyal Knight. Additionally, he was a 32nd degree Master Mason of the Ecclesiastes Lodge #120.
David was very instrumental in his community and was known as ""EC"" Dave. Also, he was an ambassador and a Godly man. Dave leaves a legacy and his favorite sayings to include: ""Stay Black until I get back"" and also ""Peace sign"" was often used.
David departed this life in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on May 30, 2022.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Louise Brooks, his wife Charlotte Brooks of fifty years, his brothers, Richard Brooks and Phillip Brooks.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories two daughters Tonya (William) and Shonda (Dwight), four granddaughters Shai (Deandre Sr.), Kayla (Zelle Sr.), Kori, and Willa, Two great-grandsons Deandre Jr. and Zelle Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
