Darnell C. Hill was born on November 12, 1949, in Marytown, West Virginia, to the late Robert Hill and Lillian Rice-Hill. At the age of 11, he was baptized in Mullen, West Virginia. In 1963, Darnell moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended Cleveland public schools. He worked at Gibson & Homans for over 40 years until his retirement in 2010.
Darnell met Annie, the love of his life, and they married in July 1980 in Cuyahoga County. Together, they had three children: Galica Gray, Dominic Hill, and Theresa Hill. After losing their only son, Dominic, they helped raise his first-born grandchild, Rondel Hill, as their own son.
A jack of all trades and master of them all, Darnell enjoyed working on cars, houses, and landscaping. His motto was, "If you can take it apart, you can put it back together!" He was devoted to his family and friends, always ready to help anyone. Known for his strength and determination, Darnell was a great father, husband, grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and brother.
After a lengthy battle with illness, Darnell was called home on July 18, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillian Hill; his son, Dominic Hill; and his brothers, James Hill and Arnold Hill.
