Darnell Champion

October 11, 1955 — August 6, 2020

Darnell Champion, 65, passed away August 6, 2020, at his home in Cleveland. He was born on October 11, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio to Mother: Shirley Ann Long and Father: John Champion

Darnell Champion grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Glenville High School in Cleveland Ohio.

After graduation, Darnell became an employee of Cleveland Clinic, where he spent 14 years as a dedicated worker. His job description went far beyond their expectations. While completing his daily assignments with them, he found time to help others in more ways than one. After spending 14 years with Cleveland Clinic, Darnell became an entrepreneur. He shared his gifts and talents with others through his business as the founder of “Champion Rehap” and his expertise as an owner of JoJo’s Pizza and much, much more.

Darnell was a family man. He loved his family profoundly. He was a devoted Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother, and Friend.

Darnell Champion was an active member of his Home Group until he became ill. Wednesday Nite Unity in Saint Timothy Missionary Baptist is where he accepted service responsibilities and where he learned firsthand, how to place principles before personalities. Though the very essence of A.A. strength remained with his home group and became his extended family, His faith kept him grounded. His Home Group was where he found a continued support system, extended family, friends, and a Sponsor that helped him on his continued journey of service responsibilities within his fellowship and beyond.

Darnell had 2 children. Romell Champion (diseased) and John Champion

Darnell had a Loving Step Mom (Doreatha Champion), married to his Father (John Champion Sr.), 11 Siblings: Stephanie Champion, Deborah Lewis, Debora Champion, Lisa Long (Jamison), Keith Champion, Clarence Champion, John Champion (Deceased), Guy Long, Jemal Long (Deceased), Noel Long, Ricardo Long, 3 Grand Children: Ronell, DJ, Ro’Myiah, whom he loved with all his heart. A daughter in-law (Chardae Anderson), who went over and beyond her call to care for him when he couldn’t care for himself, 3 Wives (Melinda Champion, Trina Bridget-Johnson, & Charly Ford) and a host of nieces, nephews, & Friends.
