Dale Londell Peters

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Dale L. Peters, I, (74), of Cleveland, Ohio. Dale, affectionately known as Lonny, passed away on July 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Lonny was born on May 1, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, as the second oldest of eight children to Richard Eugene Sr. and Jean Louise Peters. Lonny was the beloved husband of 53 years to Gail S. Peters; the devoted father of Dale, II (Dory) and Dana (Marcus).

He was a remarkable athlete that excelled in various sports throughout his life. He also made his mark in running, where his mile relay team shattered the record and earned John F. Kennedy High School's first state championship in the mile relay in 1967. This achievement awarded him a full-ride track scholarship to Cleveland State University.

Lonny accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church at a young age and continued his membership into his adult life. The Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 28th at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 3290 E. 126th St. The family will receive friends during the wake at 10:00 am and the funeral will promptly begin at 11:00 am.
