Curtis E. Ruffin

September 16, 1971 — March 14, 2020

Curtis Earl Ruffin, Sr. was born on September 16, 1971, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Earl Ruffin, Jr. and Mageree Lang Ruffin. There were three children born to their union: Cynthia Fay, Curtis and Marguerita. His beloved mother preceded him in death. As a young child, Curtis spent his summers in Shubuta, Mississippi, with his loving grandmother, Ellen Lang. While in Cleveland, Ohio, he lived in the Glenville area, where he met some of his lifelong friends. Accepting Christ at an early age, Curtis was a proud member of Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. "Chances make champions!" was Curtis' favorite quote. He was always an enterprising person. Curtis took his first position working for his dad at Earl's Gulf Station. He was skillful with the repair of cars. This job manifested into a love for cars which led to his annual trips to Las Vegas for the SEMA Show. However, Curtis was a jack of all trades. As the owner of the Ruffin Family Enterprise, Curtis utilized his construction and design skills in the complete rehabilitation of homes. One of Curtis's favorite songs contains the words "He keeps on blessing me." The acknowledgment of God's provision and protection was evident in Curtis' daily life. Curtis' smile reflected his enormous heart. He loved to joke and keep everyone laughing whenever he was around. He took pride in caring for and providing for his family and friends. Curtis definitely lived his best life - doing what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it. Curtis Earl Ruffin, Sr. was called home during the early hours of Saturday, March 14, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Earl Ruffin Jr. (Terra Haute, Indiana); his children: Shanee Lloyd, Curtis Earl Ruffin Jr., Mario Lloyd (California), Cortez Earl Ruffin (who preceded him in death), Shania Ruffin, Curtis C. Ruffin, Cordell Earl Ruffin, DeSean Twymon, and DeAngelo Howard; his sisters: Cynthia Fay Brooks (Rodney) Indianapolis, Indiana, and Marguerita Ruffin; his favorite nephew, Tyrone M. Yarbrough; his second mother, Yvonne Booker and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and the love of his life and soulmate, Melody Howard.
