Chevonne Lillian Stokes-Gunnels

July 29, 1978 — December 24, 2021

Chevonne Lillian Stokes-Gunnels was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 29, 1978, to Donna Welch and Allen Moore and unexpectedly passed away in her home on December 24, 2021. Leaving behind five beautiful children Kevon Gunnels, Keavia Gunnels which she had with her husband Kevin Gunnels they were married in 2005. Tavareyah Walker, Dontavion Walker and Auvauntay Walker and their father Donta Walker that will miss her spirit and smile.

She is preceded by her late great grandmother: Melissa Ann Stokes. Grandparents Donald Hill, Lillie B. Hill, Addie Moore and Uncle Aaron Hill and Aunt Mary Coleman.

She was an amazing mother to five children that now survives her Kevon, Keavia Tavareyah, Dontavion and Auvauntay who will continue to thrive in her memory: She was a mother that would do anything for her babies and enjoyed taking them on trips to Florida and Disney, their favorite place which she also had plans on moving to. Chevonne Stokes lived a life of semi-stardom when she'd met her favorite celebrity and continued her legacy of being one of the strongest women you'd meet. She'd received her education in Cleveland Public Schools and received her certificate in Nail tech in Cleveland, Oh and Cosmetology in Michigan. She'd moved back to Ohio to be close to her oldest sister and mother while raising her children and began planning her move to Florida which will now never be actualized.

She survived by her mother and father: Donna Welch, and Allen Moore (Carla). Her three sisters and one brother: Tamika Stokes, Adrian Welch, Nia-Simone Moore, and Demetrius Simpson. Nephews: Quantez Stokes, Anthonie Stokes, Ethan Grew, Ja'Yale, Amari, Ahmad Simpsons and Lavar Wallace. Nieces: Quannisha Stokes, Tylar Simpson, Taylor Simpson. Great nieces: Tayler, Olivia and Halynn Stokes. Aunts: Sandra Hill, Demetrice Flenoy, Yvonne Smith (Lloyd), Laverne Hill and Carolyn Sellers. Uncles: Daryl Hill, Jai Hill and Bobby Longmire (Christine). Chevonne has many cousins that she loved very much and an abundance of friends. Chevonne also has these ladies that she called her sisters that she would give the shirt off her back to: Nicole (Kool-Aid), Erica Logan, Angela Curry, Dalechina Agee, Tenisha Wilhoite. Her Best friends Jeanette Matthews, Edward Williams (Bub) and Ila Taylor.

Anyone that knew Chevonne knew that she loved being a mother, loved music, singing and being with her closest friends and family. She also loved to cook as she loved her food! She was great at both. She was raised as the middle child of three girls by her very strong and brave mother that taught them all about life. She will be deeply missed and there will now always be a hole where she used to be. We all knew that no matter what, Chevonne was convinced that she was the baby, and she really was as she was her mother's confidante. However, her annoying little sister will continue to annoy her, and her biggest sister will continue to have her back.
