A CELEBRATION OF LIFE CHARLES WADSWORTH WILLIAMS

CHARLES WADSWORTH WILLIAMS was born on August 12, 1938 in Cedartown, Georgia to the union of William Lee and Cora Mozzelle Williams. He was the second of three sons. He departed this life on Friday June 25, 2021.

Charles grew up on East 34th and then around 10 moved to East 112th off Superior. He attended East Tech High School in the 50's. He was very famously known in the neighborhood and nicknamed Sleepy because of his lazy eye. He tried to join the Army at the time of the Korean war, but was rejected because of his eye color. After high school he went to work at the Post Office for a few years but his calling was being an auto mechanic, so he began working with his brother at Sohio which later changed to BP where he worked until his retirement approximately 2013 in his 70's.

He met Alma Bell in 1958 and they had one daughter named Yolanda Patrice.
In June 1959, he married Louise Jones. To this union four children were born: Charlene Louise, Anthony Dwayne, Darryl Keith, and Kimberly Dawn.
Charles loved to visit family and friends. His best friend was his brother Willie Williams. He was a very multi-talented man with a mechanical mind. He enjoyed fixing everyone's cars, appliances, and anything that needed to be fixed. His favorite topic of conversation was politics, sports and current events. His other best friend Jack Daniels also watched sports with him throughout his years.

As he started to get older, he wanted to go to Texas to visit his younger brother Kenny Williams but never made it, dementia ended that reality.
Everyone who knew him would say that he was a calm, cool man. Toward the end of his life, he showed courage and strength and never complained about the pain or medical challenges he faced. He departed this life after a long battle with Dementia and other medical issues.
His favorite saying was - 'I am going to live forever' or 'The difference is I never got caught.'
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mozzelle and Willie Sr., brother, Willie Jr. and grandson Brandon B.;

He leaves to mourn his brother Kenneth Leon, Carolyn (wife), Copperas Cove Texas. his five children Yolanda, Charlene, Darryl and Kim of Cleveland, Ohio and Anthony of Miami Florida; his grandchildren Donna, LAnthony, Jimmie, Michael, Briana, Brandon W, Marvin, Mark, Marchelle, CaSaundra; his great grandchildren Dauntasia, Jaylin, Jimmie II, Brandon S, Jahlil, and Ja'cai; his great great grand daughter Skyler; nieces and nephews, Jeannette, Arrik, Shawn, Andrew, Keena, Keisha, Leticia, Anita, Ayesha, and Kenneth Jr.; sister-n-laws Jessie Williams, Velma Williams and Marilyn Reaves and a host of devoted and loving friends.

We will miss you Sleepy, rest in peace.
