Charles Henry Vaughn, known to everyone as Chuckie, was born on December 11th, 1933 in Warren, Ohio and is the oldest son of Gladys and Leo Vaughn. Chuckie was educated in the Warren public school system and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, class of 1952 going on to attended Youngstown University of Ohio. Chuckie served in the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge.   Chuckie was an independent agent of Supreme Life Insurance Company after moving to Cleveland Ohio. He also worked for the State of Ohio, the East Cleveland Public Library, and was an independent courier for Bonnie Speed Delivery Inc. Chuckie always enjoyed being his own boss. His dream was to own and operate a restaurant. He loved going to the Hot Dog Shoppe in his hometown of Warren and wanted to bring a piece of that to Cleveland. He opened Hot Dog Express in Cleveland Heights, selling hotdogs, burgers, fries and his specialty chili. The restaurant became a popular place to eat and received the attention of the Plain Dealer Sunday Magazine in a featured article titled: "Vegans vs. Carnivores" in September 2001. Chuckie lovingly known as Grandpa was very involved in the lives of his three grandchildren. He always attended their extracurricular activities while serving as taxi and cheerleader. Chuckie was a member of his family church, Grace A.M.E. in Warren OH, later joining East Mount Zion Baptist Church when he moved to Cleveland Heights. There, he was an active member in group no.17 and a volunteer in the church's Lifeline food bank serving families in need. He was also a member of EL Hasa-Temple 28 of Warren. Chuckie married Aldra Camille Emerson of Warren, OH who preceded him in death. To that union two daughters were born, Erin Nicole Vaughn and Kyra Ann Bremer. He later married Alice Bruton of Cleveland, OH. Chuckie leaves his daughters, son-in-law Keith Bremer, grandchildren Kamille, Kameron, and Kristian, brothers Jan Reid, Edward Arlan Lewis, Richard Lewis, and sister Evelyn A. Corley. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Darby Vaughn, Leon Vaughn Sr., Robert Vaughn Sr., Kenneth Vaughn and Mitchell A. Lewis. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish his life.
