Dr. Charles H. Duncan was born on March 4, 1941, in Little Rock Arkansas, to the late parents H. C. Duncan, Sr., and Bessie McNair. He was the eldest of five sons. Dr. Duncan graduated from East Washington in 1959. He always dreamed of being a physician. He began to prepare himself to carry out his dream by faithfully taking night school at various colleges and universities while also serving in the United States Army. After receiving his medical degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in 1975, he completed his internship and residency program at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Duncan was affiliated with numerous medical organizations including Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity, the Associate American College of Physicians, the American Professional Association, and the American Society of Internal Medicine. Dr. Duncan began living his dream as a physician at Kaiser Permanente in July of 1978, where he became the Chief of The Department of Medicine from 1983-1991. He was also the Chairman of The Quality Assurance Committee from 1981-1989, as well as a Senior Clinical Instructor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Following 27 years at Kaiser Permanente, he joined Westshore Primary Care, continuing to fulfill his love of caring for patients and giving to the medical community. There he remained until his passing. He had a faithful following of patients who adored and respected him. Dr. Duncan truly loved the Lord. He gave his life to Christ at an early age at Rice Chapel in Washington, Pennsylvania. After meeting and marrying his wife Rebecca, he became a faithful member of Beth-EI AME Zion Church, serving as the Treasurer of the Scholarship Committee, a member of the Trustee Board, and lending his medical talents on 1st Sundays by giving blood pressure checks. In his free time, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends who loved and cherished him. Dr. Duncan was preceded in death by loving mother, Bessie McNair; Father H.C. Duncan; and Brother Welcome (Bishop) Duncan. He leaves to cherish his memories wife, Rebecca; three brothers; Birt, Vincent, and Ronald; three children; Romondo, Stacey, and Melody; eight grandchildren; Takeesha, Chenele, Semari, Nyla, Jayden, Melaja, Nia, and Desere'e; six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends. Gone but not forgotten, his memory, kindness, and generosity lives on in all of us!
