Charles Davis Jr. was born on September 6, 1941 in Hughes, Arkansas to Charles Davis Sr. and Lillie Mae Robinson. He had fourteen siblings. He was Affectionately referred to as Charlie by his family and friends.
Charlie left his hometown in Arkansas as a young man in 1957 to migrate to Ohio. He remained there throughout the remainder of his life. He was blessed with two children from his marriage to Joyce Davis, a son James and a daughter Anna. Later in life he met Cassandra Lee and they married on December 22, 2003. He became Stepdad to Anthony, Deborah and Maurice on that date. In April of 2015 Charlie along with his wife became members of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Richard Gibson.
Charlie was a foundry worker employed by Aluminum Smelting and Refining Co., Inc in Maple Hts. Ohio for many years. He also was employed as a mechanic at Doc's Auto Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He also had his own yard rototilling business during his retirement years. Charlie enjoyed fishing, traveling, taking road trips, spending time with family and friends, he also loved good food. He suddenly passed away on September 5, 2022 while residing at Broadview Multicare Center in Parma, Ohio
He was preceeded in death by his Parents, Sisters: Susan Dale, Verdella Hatch, Alberta Morrow, Mary Gross and Rosie Davison. Brothers: Willie Hampton, Arthur Starling and Daniel Hampton.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory his Children: James Davis Sr. and Anna Davis. Stepchildren: Deborah Lee-Hayes his caregiver, Anthony Maze and Maurice Lee. Siblings: Rosie Lee Starling, John Henry (Loretta) Johnson, Isiah (Diana) Newson and Juliet Hampton all of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Lauberta Horton and Verna Davis of Elyria, Ohio; grandchildren: Lashawnte (Wakekee) Davis Sr., Layonte Davis Sr., James Davis ll, Jamar Davis Sr., Kianna Davis, Robert (Erica) Norman Sr., DJuan Pierce, Damon Pierce, Charlena (Alvin) Robertson, Jessica Wanzo and Courtney (Robert) Phillipp; one Daughter-in-Law Sharese Lamar; two Sisters-in-law Linda and Winifred and two brothers-in-law Clifton and William; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
