Cassandra Maze-Davis

August 20, 1941 — December 13, 2018

Cassandra Elizabeth Maze-Davis was born to the union of Clyde and Mildred Toney Maze on August 20.1941 in Waycross, Georgia. She was the oldest of eldest of seven siblings. Her parents and one brother, Carl Eugene Maze, preceded her in death. Cassandra attended Cleveland Public Schools until her sophomore year. She graduated from East High School in Youngstown, Ohio in 1959. Some years later she attended Cuyahoga Community College taking classes for Paraprofessionals in the Special Education Setting, Cassandra was blessed with her first born Anthony in 1957. She was later blessed with a daughter, Deborah, and another son, Maurice from her marriage to Charles Lee. On December 22, 2003 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles Davis Jr. Cassandra accepted Christ at a young age and joined Providence Baptist Church. As a adult she joined Second Ebenezer Baptist Church under Rev. A. L. Owens where she served as a Nursery Sunday School Teacher. God led Cassandra to unite with Elizabeth Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Richard Gibson in April of 2015. Cassandra was a diligent worker. She was employed as a cook and server at Hot Sauce Williams in Cleveland, Ohio for a period of time in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She later became employed by The Cleveland Public Schools Board of Education as a librarian assistant and a Teacher's Aide at various schools including Lula Diehl Junior High School, Mary M. Bethune Elementary School and Alexander Graham Bell School for the Autistic and Hearing Impaired until she retired in 1995. For many years Cassandra served as a home respite care provider for children with special needs through The Easter Seal Society of Northeastern Ohio. She served as a Girl Scout Leader in her neighborhood for many years which she loved. Cassandra will be forever be remembered for her loving personality. Her family was her world, she loved working alongside her siblings planning family reunions. holiday gatherings and other events. She loved to travel around the country with her husband plus other family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking in previous years and was best appreciated for her German Chocolate Cake Cassandra's health begin to fail in recent months limiting her quality of life due to complications of end-stage renal failure and diabetes. She was called home by The Lord God and departed this life on Thursday, December 13, 2018 Cassandra leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Charles Davis Jr.; three children, Anthony Maze(Janice), Deborah Lee-Hayes and Maurice Lee; five siblings, Wanda Maze, Clifton Maze (Hyacinth), William Maze (Janice), Winifred Bert (William) and Linda McClanahan (Alvin); ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws; Mary, Sue and Juliet; three brother-in-laws; John, Henry and Isaiah; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
