On Monday, June 14, 2021, Carlton Augustus Christie, loving husband, brother, father of three passed away at the youthful age of 75, in his home surrounded by family. Carlton was born on February 15, 1946, in St. Mary, Jamaica. He was the well-loved son of Vernal and Jane Brown Christie both of whom preceded him in death On July 19, 1998, Carlton was baptized at East Mount Zion Baptist Church. His unwavering faith in God was an important part of his life. He was blessed with the gift of servant hood as an active member of his church.
In 1987, Carlton married the love of his life, Beryl Fairweather in St. Catherine, Jamaica. He was an exceptional man whose devotion to God and his family was evident in his everyday existence. His greatest desire was to provide the best opportunities for his family. Carlton devoted 20 years of service to the St Catherine District Prison where he worked as a Corrections Officer. He also lent his skills as an auto mechanic to his local community.
He migrated to the United States of America and worked for the renowned Cleveland Clinic and retired aft er 25 years of service. His co-workers affectionately refer to him as "the man who loved his word search puzzles."
Carlton was deeply passionate about his love for the game of cricket, and he oft en played with family and friends. Once he migrated to the United States, he became a super fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Team. He was known as the Jack of All Trades: Mr. Fix- It, the chef for the entire family, the mechanic, and the farmer tending to his vegetable garden. He enjoyed the simple things of life.
He leaves to cherish his life and memories: his wife: Beryl, three children: Kesha Young and Dario Christie of South Euclid, Ohio and Milton Christie of Portmore, Jamaica. Granddaughter Saige Christie of South Euclid, Ohio, his only remaining living sister Carmen Christie-Lee of Hollywood, Florida. Sister-in- laws: Ena Bailey of Miami, Florida, Ina (Delroy) Bailey-Bryan, Denneth (Newton) Campbell, and Ann Marie (Paul)Barrett of South Euclid, Ohio; Donneth Bailey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Dorreth Bailey-Oldacre of Cincinnati, Ohio. Brother-in-law: Keith Bailey of Richmond Heights, Ohio. Grand Niece: Aniyah Richards, who adored and cared for him at home to the end. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Four siblings who preceded him in death: Lindon McKay, Dorothy McKay Stewart, Dora McKay Livingston, Delores McKay Beckford, Gloria Christie Leamy. His youngest child, Carlton Christie, Jr. pre-ceded him in death.
O Lord, you know the length of days assigned to each one of us and you know how we have used them - to bring love and joy into the world... instruments of your peace...
On this day we trust your great knowledge of Carlton A. Christie and your wisdom and goodness to usher him into the eternal Kingdom. Over the years he has touched many lives - may those times be a credit to your kingdom and ultimately bring you glory. For his 27,513 days with us, we give you thanks.
In his death we recognize that our world is at a loss. Bless us in these moments as we pay tribute to Carlton's life and as we remember...
