Brantley Jaye Johnson

October 27, 1955 — January 11, 2020

Brantley Jaye Johnson, II was born on October 27, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee to Harold and Jacques Johnson. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1960s where his family was one of the first black families to reside on 143rd & Miles. Brantley attended John F. Kennedy High School and later enlisted in the Marines. In the fall of 1978, Brantley met Carolyn Anderson, whom he would later marry. They raised four children, Rodneshia, Brandy, Justine and Brantley, III. Brantley started his own security company, Coordinate Systems Security. After years of success, he left the security business and became a cross-country truck driver for swift. He obtained many certifications, including Intuit Quickbooks, Locksmith, and Real Estate. Brantley had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He was a practitioner of hermetic principles and philosophy; well versed in political current affairs and a lover of history. He was an advocate of nationalism for people of color around the world. Brantley's favorite pastimes were reading, fishing, horseback riding, and he was a huge fan of boxing. He enjoyed spending time with his family; children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, mostly passing along his knowledge. He would pass along his knowledge with anyone who would listen, until he was no longer able on the day he transitioned, Saturday, January 11, 2020. Brantley was proceeded in death by his father, Harold Johnson; mother, Jacques Johnson; sisters, Joy, Joyce, and Jacqueline Johnson-Bey; brothers, Mark Johnson and Anthony Johnson; and his son, Brantley Johnson, III, who was waiting with open arms for this reunion. Brantley leaves behind a large family to cherish their memories. His wife Carolyn Anderson-Johnson, cherishing a 41-year union. His children, Rodneshia, Brandy and Justine; son-in-law, Brian Clinton; grandchildren, JuNeal, Shayla, Catera, Robert, and Regina; great-grandchildren, Harmony and Julius. His only surviving sibling (Gaylord) Heru Tehati-Bey; nephews, Kennard and Walter Johnson-Bey, and Walter Smith; along with a host of other nephews, nieces, aunts, and cousins, who are all loved and in babybrant's heart.
