Bobette Latrice Hurst-Sudduth was born May 15, 1955 to Lillie Manuel Hurst and David Josiah Hurst, Sr. (both now deceased) and was the eldest of 2 children born to this marriage. Bobette and Brother David Josiah Hurst, Jr. (recently deceased) were raised in a loving, musically talented, Christian home and began her Christian training at East Mount Zion Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio under the late Reverend William M. Downes. Bobette attended Cleveland Public Schools and was a graduate of Glenville High School, Cleveland, Ohio. Bobette exhibited her gift of singing at a very early age and as she grew her talent expanded and developed with careful training into an 8 Octave Range Lyric Soprano. As a young woman Bobette shared her gift by becoming a member of several notable groups around Cleveland which also led to her opportunity to travel with Michael Terry and Friends to Europe. Other groups with which she sang to name a few were: Cleveland Interfaith Choir, The Gospel Experience and Carlton Fellows. She also enjoyed sharing her talent as she developed a love of theatre and performed in many plays in and out of Cleveland. She had a special love for Karamu House Theatre and performed many times under the direction of the widely known and respected director, the late Mike Malone. Bobette had a great love for family and on April 13, 1985 she was joined in marriage to Acey Bernard Sudduth (now deceased). From that union 3 children were born; Erik Alexander Bernard; Ayron Jordan Bernard and Maya Symone Lillie Sudduth. Her eldest son Erik blessed her with 3 loving grandsons; these children were the joy of her life and she took great pleasure in teaching each one of them to pray, sing and reading them Bible Stories. They are following their musical heritage. In recent years Bobette continued her Christian studies under Bishop Carolyn Hemphill-Ingram at the Bread of Life Church. She developed a very close relationship with Bishop Ingram and was pleased to be added as a part of her churches' extended family. Our beloved Bobette departed this life on Wednesday, March 23rd at University Hospital.
