BARBARA WESTBERRY, age 74; Passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Loving mother, grandmother, dear relative and friend whose memory shall be treasured. SERVICES ON SATURDAY, JUNE 21, 2014; WAKE: 9:30 AM, FUNERAL 10:00 AM at Bethany Baptist Church, 1211 East 105th Street. Public may view on all day Friday, June 20th until 7:00 PM. Barbara Jo Westberry was born September 20, 1939 in Gallup, New Mexico to Bessie Opal Mims and Sam Horshaw and was one of 13 siblings. She graduated from Gallup High School. Barbara moved to Cleveland, OH to help care for her Aunt Ella. It was there that she met her future Husband, Silas Westberry, who preceded her death. They had a long and happy marriage due to the fact their belief of never going to bed angry. They bore two beautiful daughters, Lillie Abdul-Rahman (Abdul) and Bessie Westberry (deceased) Barbara was a devoted congregation member and worshipped at Bethany Baptist Church for over 25 years. She was a loyal employee of University Hospitals for over 20 years until her retirement, after which she took up a new role as Front Porch Matron on both Hampden and Olivet Ave. She could always be found there with a smile and friendly hello to all that passed. If you knew Barbara, you knew that loved Fried Chicken, had a kind and giving spirit loved her grandkids, her neighborhood and good conversation Barbara leaves to uphold her memory: Sister Marilyn and Shirley; daughter, Lillie; grandchildren, Nadia, Tiffany, Latia & Tarik and Great-Granddaughter Kyla Makenzie Renee. She will be missed.
