BARBARA JEAN STAMPS; Passed May 11, 2009. SERVICE ON SATURDAY, MAY 16, WAKE: 9:30 AM, FUNERAL: 10:00 AM at Calvary Church of God in Christ, 10808 Superior Avenue. WATSON'S FUNERAL HOME, 10913 Superior Avenue, in charge. Barbara Jean Stamps was born on August 15, 1932 to the late Jermon and Jessie Thomas in Cleveland, OH. They introduced her to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and taught her how to love and depend on Him. She met and married Willie Frank Milbert, and to this union two children were born, one daughter, Nadine Cardella and one son, Michael Anthony. She later married Harris William Stamps in 1965. They were married until his untimely death in 1974. Barbara was a faithful member of Calvary Church of God in Christ for over 35 years under the previous leadership of Elder Richard Brown. She has been under the direction of Pastor Gregory E. Jordan for the past 3 years. She sang and directed the mass choir under the direction of Richard Smith for a number of years. She also was a member of the Usher Board and worked in the "kitchen" selling her famous wings and spaghetti after Sunday Services. She loved to cook. She and her sister-in-law Dorothy Rollins (who preceded her in death March of this year) owned and operated a catering business called "Sisters Catering". She retired from Bowman Distribution in 1978. Barbara loved children. She had an in home day care service for many years. She began caring for foster children in the late 1980's. She later adopted Charles and Jacob Stamps. To cherish her memory is: her brothers Arthur Thomas (Lena), Eugene Thomas (Lorraine), her daughter Nadine McMichael (Bennie), and sons Michael Milbert (LaFrance), Charles and Jacob. Grandchildren; Monica (Roger), Monique (John), Benjamin III, Michael Jr., Harris (Tiffany), and Davaughn. She had 13 great-grand children and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She also leaves two special cousin, "Biddy" (Vera Penn) and Ms. "Pretty" Irene Jackson.
