Artha L. Hicks

Arthalean Lee Hicks was born on the fifth day of September in 1928, to the late Robert Smith "Big DAD" and Anime Shields. Arthalean was the only daughter of two siblings and a sister to Robert. Shields II (deceased) and sister-in-law to Georgia Mae.

Arthalean was born in Monticello, Georgia, and moved "up north" Cleveland to give her ONLY child Marilyn Winfield(deceased) a better life from the southern discrimination. She accepted and devoted her life to Christ at an early age. She came back to know the lord at starlight Baptist Church, Arthalean was married to Isaac Hicks(deceased)

When she arrived in Cleveland, she worked as a seamstress to her establishment, thereafter "Uncle Sonny" helped her get into General Motors where she established her career for over 30 years and successfully retired. Affectionately known as Mama Granny and Arthalean Lee she loved helping and taking care of her family especially her three grandsons. Her boys and her never missed a breakfast together. She enjoyed sewing, watching the game especially baseball and the "price is right" because she loved to see others win money. Arthalean played cards with the guys and was an expert at Bingo where she frequented every weekend.

Granny was a rider, and she took care of herself independently all the way until November 2022. Her favorite was Pepsi, hotdogs and Greens and bread, and no one could cook a Roast like Mama. Arthalean adored her grandsons, Andre, Jameel and Anwar and loved ALL her Great grands, It was nothing she wouldn't do for them. She outlived her only child but lived a full life. While going through the process of watching her daughter fight, she still was able to have strength and keep going.

Arthalean lived a beautiful prosperous life. She lived for 9 decades. She was able to watch her grandkids great grandkids and her great great grandkids grow and enjoy life on Saturday, June 17. Arthalean "Mama" Lee "Granny" Hicks departed earth to be with the Lord and her daughter Marilyn Winfield. She left behind her grandchildren Andre (Johnicia), Anwar, and Jameel. Great grandkids John Tara, Andrea. (Garry), Courtney, Andre Jr. Peris, Shayla, Amarianna, Rashaan, Jonathan Neveah, Madisyn, and Jaden. Great great grandkids, Ji'Niyah, Antonio Jr, Garry Jr, Sheriyah, G'Johnathan, Arien, AShad, Aesir. nephew Darryl (Evette), Ronnie, Robert II (Tasha), her niece Tracy (Bo deceased) and Sister n law Georgia. Great nephew Quentin, Joshua, Darryl II, and Great niece Denise Ann. Loving friends and family.
