Arlene Lee, age 96, went home to her heavenly Father on January 28, 2024. Arlene White (nee) was born on August 17, 1927, in Eastgulf, West Virginia to parents James and Lannie White.
Arlene attended Byrd Prillerman High School in Amigo, West Virginia. She later moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she married the love of her life Wilson Lee Jr. She was the proud mother of Tyrone White, Janice Maze, Lawrence Lee, and Deirdre Lee. She spent most of her young adult life serving others at home, in her neighborhood, and in her church community. One of her greatest joys was being an active member of Holy Trinity Baptist Church serving on the Deaconess Board.
Arlene enjoyed spending her time being creative - painting and collecting landscapes, gardening, and crocheting. At age 55, she retired from working at Beachwood High School and dedicated her remaining years to being the grandest grandmother and the greatest Gigi. She was actively involved in her grandchildren's lives taking them to and from school, hosting endless sleepovers on summer nights, being a listening ear and offering advice whenever they needed it, cooking them the most comforting food at all the right times, and taking them shopping for all the coolest clothes and toys. Arlene baked the best pound cake, fried the best chicken, and prepped and layered the prettiest and tastiest chocolate haven. She could walk the entirety of Richmond Mall while calculating sale prices in her head faster than most. And while she was a master of getting things done, Arlene moved through life with incredible patience and grace for anyone and everyone who crossed her path.
Arlene is welcomed to heaven by her late parents, James and Lannie, her late husband, Wilson, and all four of her siblings, T.W. Wright, Melvin Wright, Johnny Wright, and Willa Mae Cannon.
Left to proudly carry on her legacy are her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Loving mother to Tyrone (Anita), Lawrence, Janice (William), and Deirdre. Cherished grandmother to Zabe Lee (Blessie), Emeric Lee (Amanda), Eric White (Kelli), Sherry White, Shaleigha Rowland (Eric), Jamiel Maze (Rachel), Jasmine Maze (Madebo), Alan Majors, John Watson Jr., Kishon McDonald and Shavmarie McDonald-Martin. Beloved great-grandmother to Jasmine, Christian, Mia, Micah, Devyn, Jordyn, Kamryn, Aaliyah, Alanis, Hendrix, Elise and Chase.
To know Arlene was to love her AND to be loved by her.
