April Monique Mitchell-Odom

On April 1, 1971, April Monique Mitchell was born at Forest City Hospital in East Cleveland, Ohio to Joyce Powell (William E. Powell) and James Mitchell. On August 22, 2023, at 52, April transitioned to eternal life.

April attended East Cleveland City Schools throughout her formable education where she graduated from Shaw High School in 1989. To earn her degree in Nursing, she attended the Cleveland Institute of Dental/Medical Assistant, ATS Institute of Technology, Cuyahoga Community College, and Chamberlain College. In the interim, she became a Medical Assistant and worked at various hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio including Cleveland Clinic and Metro Hospital. She also worked at GCRTA and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department. She was an independent contractor training and supporting EPIC, an Electronic Medical Records system, in multiple hospitals taking her to New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

April loved to cook. She was an entrepreneur, hair stylist, and fashionista. She knew she was always Sharp. She loved music and had an eclectic taste in various music genres. She loved to party and was well-known throughout Cleveland and East Cleveland. A good day would be her bending corners on her Harley.

In that short span of time, she touched many lives and made many friends. April was a fun and loving person. She had a very giving heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was dedicated to her family and was selfless. She would do anything in her power to make sure you were good, however, don't get it twisted, April was also no-nonsense.

April met Sean in 1988 and from this union they had three beautiful children which they poured love, respect, and honor within their upbringing. Their children continued their legacy with their own contribution to the family dynamic with the birth of their children.
Based on their union which was solidified in 2003 until, the Mitchell-Odom family unity has stood the test to time.

April was preceded in death by her father James Mitchell, stepfather William E. Powell, and stepson Andre Odom. She leaves cherished memories with her loving mother Joyce Powell, children Justin C.J. Odom, Jordan J. Odom (Kqiera Calhoun), and Taylor Odom; Stepchildren Cyesha Odom, Quonte Eggleton, and Sean Swan; Daughter/Niece Jeree Robinson; Grandchildren Justin C. J. Odom Jr., Aniyah Odom, McKenzie Odom, Jordan Odom Jr, and Zion C. Odom; Siblings Tremaine, Torrey, Terrance, Tiffany, Chavitta; Ex-Husband Sean Odom; Cousin/Sisters; along with a host of family, very close friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, and associates alike.
