Alma Williams was born on January 15, 1929 the 11th of 12 children to the late Henry and Carrie Williams in Glennville Georgia.
Alma was a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a nurturer, and so much more. She doted on her only son Gregory Alexander while helping to raise countless other nieces and nephews. Alma worked multiple jobs to ensure Greg had everything he wanted and needed. Even though she didn't graduate high school, she was promoted to plant manager at a time when black women didn't often achieve such things. Alma loved and gave selflessly. She taught Greg and everyone around her what the true meaning of family is. She promised her siblings Levy and Gilda to look after their children and she did just like they were her own, until February 8th when she took her last breath.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings, and beloved nephew Bobby Woodson. She is survived by her son Gregory Alexander, nieces Sharon Davis, Barretta Reese, and Patricia Woodson, and a host of nieces nephews and people who love her. Her lessons of strength, love, and grace will live on in us forever.
