Alfred Leary

August 12, 1944 — May 9, 2023

Alfred Leary or Allie as he was affectionately known, to his close-knit family and friends, was the youngest of seven children born to the union of the late Arthur Leary Sr. and Eva Bell Walker Leary on August 12, 1944.

Following graduation from Glenville High School in 1963, Alfred was hired at General Electric Company Nela Park Divison. Shortly after beginning employment at GE, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served two years and was stationed in Germany for a time. After military duty, he returned to GE and retired after 371/2 years of employment.

In 1982, Alfred Leary and Cynthia Battles were joined in holy matrimony, to this union, one son Alfred D. Leary was born. The father and son duo shared a special bond and a love of cars. Going to the annual auto show and just being together was special. Later Allie would become granddaddy, and his most special joy was doting on his grandson Alvion. Al and Cynt shared a beautiful life of 40 years; for the two of them, it was family first.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Alfred Leary unexpectedly transitioned from his earthly vessel to be with the lord. His spirit remains forever. He is among the ancestors. Allie is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Eva Leary; siblings, Arthur Lemuel Leary, Clara Boyer, William Leary, Bernice Taylor, Oletta Anderson, and Helen Williams.

Alfred Leary is survived by his loving wife Cynthia, son Alfred D. Leary (Felicia) grandson Alvion D. Leary; bonus grandchildren, Trey, and Zan.

He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews Keith, Doyle, Robert, Curtis, Julis, Harry, James, Jeffrey, Shavarr, Julian, Stephan, Torrance, Tobias, Kyle, nieces Carol, Lorna, Stephanie, Karen, Lateefah, Arielle, Shenoah, Lisa, Danielle, Brittany; and a host of other great-great nieces, nephews cousins, family and friends who loved him so much.
