Herman Lee Jenkins

November 27, 1946 — May 23, 2022

Herman L. Jenkins, Jr. age 75, departed this life peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022. He was born on November 27, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parent's, Herman Duke Jenkins, and Christina Jenkins; and his sister, Sheila Cochran; he was the younger of the two children.

Herman began his early education attending, parochial school St. Aloysius. He graduated from Glenville High School. Herman was very athletic while attending Glenville. He played on the football team and basketball team. One of Herman's passions was sports, whether it was tennis, basketball, football, racquetball, or bowling. His family relocated to Miami Beach Florida. His dad played at The Eden Roc Hotel, as a jazz musician with his Trio. Herman attended school in Florida; he played on the football team there as well.

Herman was a military man; he was enlisted in the United States Army for two years on the USS Randolph Aircraft Carrier as a seaman. This allowed him to travel around the world and experience many different cultures. He received an honorable discharge, for his service in 1969.

Upon returning home from the military, Herman attended Cleveland State University pursuing a business degree, in accounting. While pursuing his degree, he was asked to run the family business Christina's Hair-Weev in all aspects. Herman was the manager there for years. In addition, Herman worked for Nestles/Stouffers and retired in 2014.

Herman met the love of his life, Goldie at Black Hair Expo Convention. She became his partner in the business. They married out of this union came one child, Kristopher and one grandchild, Kaleb. Herman loved his family dearly; they were his life. Herman was diagnosed with lung cancer. He fought a good fight. Herman would ask, "Am I going to win the race?" And Goldie would reply, "yes my love".

Herman leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of thirty years, Goldie Jenkins; his son, Kristopher Jenkins; grandson, Kaleb Jenkins; aunts, Sandra Walker (Joel) deceased, Cecelia Cooper (Clifford) deceased, and Delma Jamison (Norman) deceased; and a host of cousins and relatives.

Sheryl Mitchell and Gary Jenkins both were Herman's cousins who took a special interest in his health, and they were special to Herman.

Herman was a humble proud man who loved life. He was good son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

Herman was a kind loving man with integrity, tenacity and a perfect gentleman was impeccable on all aspects. He had compassion for his fellow man. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was voice of wisdom and strength.
