Ethel Shelynne Woods was born June 9th, 1960 in Jackson Mississippi to the Rev. Lee Vaughn Williams Sr. and Mary Eugene Williams-Wright (Jackson) She was proceeded in death by both as well as her son Darvin K. Williams, sister (LiaKeta P. Williams) and husband Walter L. Woods.
Ethel moved to Cleveland, Ohio at an early age and matriculated through the Cleveland Public school system. She also received a bachelors degree in Christian counseling, and was a licensed missionary in the Church Of God In Christ.
Ethel was a very caring and giving person working in the home healthcare field for over 20 years touching countless lives throughout her journey.
Ethel married Walter L. Woods August 15, 1987 and they were married until his death in November 2005.
Ethel was extremely outgoing and had a smile that would light up a room! She was also very adventurous and joined her sister Gwen on the West Coast moving to Monterrey, California in November of 2018. While there she joined Greater Victory Church of God In Christ where Dr.& First Lady Britt were her leaders. She began working in the Singles Ministry, Praise Team, and Choir. She loved God and loved people and would pray for you at any given moment no matter the location if there was need.
Ethel received the Lord at an early age and made sure that her children knew the importance of a personal relationship with God! She practiced what she preached and spread the love of God everywhere that she went!
She was an excellent singer, writer, prayer warrior, Bible scholar, scrabble champion, board game queen, and thrifter! She was on a first name basis with every thrift store, goodwill, and consignment shop this side of the Mississippi! She loved a good bargain and would think of her family and friends while she was out shopping getting tremendous deals on items for them!
Ethel was extremely thoughtful and didn't miss an opportunity to celebrate others. She never met a stranger and gained many additional sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, and friends along the way! She was in a singing group called Exhortation with Janet Jones and Esther (Marie) Hill (accompanied by Eld. Albert Mason) who travelled singing the gospel of Jesus Christ! Her pride and joy were her children and her grandchildren whom affectionately called her Grammy Lynn! She was sure of where she was going and heaven rejoices as it gains another saint! She was a gem of a person who will be greatly missed by all!
She leaves to cherish her memory, her siblings Gwendolyn Nash (Deac John), Lee Williams, Natasha Nobles (Lorenzo), and Yolanda Williams, her children Darien Williams (Bridgette), Darah Armstrong, (Thomas), Dairvonte Woods, Drue Woods (Zinzi), John Woods, Sean Woods, Michael Woods, Adrian Woods, Sequita Woods, and a host of grand children great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Special acknowledgment to friends that became family Esther Hill, Michael Brown, George Lewis, Janet Jones, Wanda Davis and family, Brenda Jackson, The Jones Family, The Brown family, The Hicks Family, The Ward Family, The Mitchells, The Brothers, Armstrong and King families, and the entire Calvary Nation who she adored especially Pastor and First Lady Jordan! May God bless us all!
